Bandra

The micro-market

Bandra is where the western suburbs begin and where much of the city's public life plays out. Bandstand and Carter Road run along the water, the lanes behind them still hold old cottages and chapels, and the sea link puts Worli and the south of the city within easy reach.

Its luxury market lives in a handful of pockets, Pali Hill, Bandstand and the Carter Road sea front, where land is held tightly and new residences usually arrive through the redevelopment of older buildings. Sea-facing homes are rare, and buyers here tend to pay for the neighbourhood itself as much as for the apartment.
